Actor Reggie Hayes from “Girlfriends”, Now 53 Years Old, Has Congestive Heart Failure

Reginald C. Hayes is an actor, screenwriter, and director, best known for his role as William Dent on the UPN/CW show Girlfriends. Sadly, though it has been confirmed that he has heart problems. In 2020, after being hospitalized for some time, he himself released a statement on social media saying, “I have congestive heart failure, and it was difficult to breathe.”

For his performance on Girlfriends, which aired for eight years from 2000 to 2008, he earned three NAACP Image Awards for "Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series." He also went on to appear in several other movies and TV shows including Criminal Minds, Will & Grace, NCIS, and Femme Fatales.

Hayes was born in Chicago and was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's degree in Theater, and in 2004, he won the "Outstanding Young Alumni Award" and was a member of the Illinois Shakespeare Festival.

He was introduced to the world as William Jerome Dent on the hit UPN and CW sitcom Girlfriends. That show helped to establish the likes of Tracee Ellis Ross as a television powerhouse as she later went on to achieve even greater success on Black-Ish.

Aside from acting, Hayes is also an avid supporter of his community and worked alongside his sister at various events for a charity titled the "Reginald and Frances Hayes H.O.P.E. Scholarship Award".
