4-Year-Old Richie From 'Family Matters' is Now 36 and Stars in 'The Young and the Restless'

Actor Bryton McClure, also known as Bryton James, first made his debut as little Richie Crawford on the hit 90s TV sitcom  Family Matters which originally aired on ABC for nine seasons. Many people don't know that he is the same actor that stars in the CBS soap opera The Young and The Restless for which he has won two Daytime Emmy awards for his performance.

Bryton was born in 1986 and was raised in Fullerton, California. He was exposed to music at a very young age through his father, who was a musician, songwriter, and music producer. He started out in show business when he was just two years old and was featured in commercials and magazine ads, including one with Michael Jackson.

He was only 4 years old when he won the role of Richie on Family Matters, and his character definitely helped increase viewership for the show. In fact, he appeared from 1990 to 1997 in over 200 episodes. Later, he became a recording artist and even performed on Disney Channel and other U.S. and international networks.

In June 2004, at the age of 18, he began portraying Devon Hamilton on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, the highest-rated and longest-running daytime drama on American television. In 2007, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series and was nominated for the same award again in 2008. In 2009, he also won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series.

In 2020, he won another Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a drama series for The Young and The Restless.

Aside from his acting career, Bryton is the spokesperson for several charitable organizations including one he founded called RADDKids (Recording Artists, Actors, and Athletes Against Drunk Driving).
