Join our team today Position Specific Description UI Master Architect Reports to: IT Enterprise Finance Director General Responsibilities: This role serves a critical function in supporting both the financial forecasting and regulatory group through the oversight and business logic/technical support of the UI Planner models. This role requires an individual with a strong working functional/technical knowledge of the UI Planner model applications and the ability to identify areas for simplification and improvement. This role will be expected to work efficiently and independently to perform the monthly tasks, improve the forecasting platform and develop necessary enhancements to the various FPL modules (Financial & Regulatory –FRI, Cost of Service, Rate Design, Revenue Forecast, Corporate Model, Clause Filings, Clause O/U, Customer Service). Specific Responsibilities: UI Oversight and Business Logic Support: * Ensure all necessary data and attribute cases are managed appropriately to ensure the validity of the data. Make necessary updates, including logic changes to the model to accommodate new transactions or changes in the business. * Ensure all necessary master data to forecast transactions and capture actual results is configured within UI. * Provide maintenance support for the UI Model to include report writing, graphs, new entities, and scenario/case management. * Ensure the UI Model conforms with all rules and regulations of the regulatory bodies, including Federal Energy and Regulatory Commission and the Florida Public Service Commission. * Perform the monthly processes to include master data setup, data validation and reconciliation and run the interfaces between PowerPlan, SAP and UI. * Support IT and business initiatives from a forecasting standpoint, including unique transactions or changes in the underlying business. Ensure any needed changes are made to the UI forecasting model. * Maintain and optimize the UI Model by ensuring the appropriate level of controls, user and admin security, including compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. * Establish data governance policies and procedures company wide and ensure adherence. * Function as the UI technical expert; and ensure an optimized approach to data management. * Provide training support for users, to include scenario/case/attribute management, report and graph writing, etc. * Provide formal training at least quarterly, with updates on best practices or recent improved UI model functionality, tips, and tricks. * Support forecasting team in the development of long-range forecasts. Manage any updates needed to the strategy model to ensure accurate results. * Prepare and provide management reporting and analysis as needed. * Provide on-call support for UI Finance and Regulatory models including minor changes to logic. * Provide support to resolve and close- out Remedy tickets for UIPlanner systems logic or setting issues. * Provide support to plan and implement system enhancements, upgrades and adjustments in a way that maximizes system availability. * Work with Finance and Regulatory business units to develop UI Statements of Work, plan UI capital projects, and assist UI consultants during projects. Serve as liaison between UI consultants and IT/business unit personnel to ensure optimal utilization of both FPL and UI resources. Skills and Experience: * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Superior analytical skills, including ability to think and plan strategically * Ability to multitask, work under pressure and ensure deliverables are completed timely with minimal supervision. * Excellent project management skills required * Prefer Working knowledge of US GAAP and/or FERC accounting rules * Prefer Working knowledge of regulatory ratemaking concepts and FPSC regulations * Focus on simplifying processes while still delivering accurate results * Proficient in collaboration applications and strong desire to learn FPL’s UI models. * Knowledge of SAP and/or PowerPlan a plus. * Requires working knowledge of UI modeling software. * Understanding of FPL’s UI models ((Financial & Regulatory –FRI, Cost of Service, Rate Design, Revenue Forecast, Corporate Model, Clause Filings, Clause O/U, Customer Service). * Prefer a minimum of five years utility or energy experience, with some experience in forecasting or regulatory reporting. * Prefer technical knowledge of Java, SQL and Tomcat web hosting services * Ability to use agile, fast paced, dynamic project environments. * Proficient with translation of business requirements into technical solution and hands-on configuration, data modelling, Financial Systems experience, system stored procedures, calculations and report writing.
