Job Description
Physician Internal Medicine/Family Practice

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is seeking a BE/BC internal medicine/family practice/geriatrics physician to provide inpatient attending physician services in our Community Living Center (CLC).
The CLC is an 80-bed transitional care unit that serves the general Veteran population as well as housing specialized programs for Hospice and Palliative Care and a Memory Care Unit. The majority of CLC residents require rehabilitation care, extended inpatient care due to the severity of their illness, wound care and/or sub-acute medical management of multiple medical issues.
Requirements for this position include successful completion of an ACGME internal medicine or family practice residency, interest in working in an academic setting, and demonstrated success collaboratively working in a team environment.
The Minneapolis VA is a large tertiary care center affiliated with the University of Minnesota. There are many opportunities for involvement with students, residents and fellows and for physician education. There is also opportunity to participate in and develop research in the field of Geriatrics.

Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Physical requirements outlined below.
Preferred Experience: BE/BC internal medicine/family practice/geriatrics.
