Student Affairs Specialist|
As a Student Affairs Specialist, you will advise student volunteers in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating programming developed by students and staff. Supervise major campus events, including safety and security, crowd control and compliance with contractual obligations and University policies. You will assist and provide student volunteers with training in leadership development, programming skills, policy development, budget development and marketing. Serve as on-site event management and provide supervision of student volunteers, while representing the Union and the Student Activities and Organizations Office administratively. Engage daily with student organizations on guidance and approval through our Activity Planning Form Process. Cultivate and manage University-community partnerships, faculty partnerships and alumni networks that enrich campus programming. Serve as liaison with other campus leadership educators and provide assistance and collaboration where appropriate. Serve on campus-wide committee representing Student Life and Student Academic Affairs. Collaborate with students, staff, and departments to enhance the quality of student life of the Purdue campus.
This position represents two vacancies:
The first position will specialize in assisting with advising the Purdue Old Masters and Rising Professionals Program on campus. This position will also serve as the coordinator and liaison for recognized student organizations with regard to working with the alumni and development opportunities on campus.
The additional position will serve as the coordinator of the International Student Organizational Council. Assist with advising one of the premier student organizations on campus.
Qualifications & Requirements
One year of experience working with student conduct administration, residence life, and/or student activities.
Strong skills in decision making, communication, interpersonal and intercultural relations.
Ability to coach and lead others, strategic thinking, and drive for results.
Supervision of volunteers and work with diverse student populations.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds and teamwork in daily work activity.
Clear understanding of student development theories, co-curricular development, learning outcomes and ability to collaborate.
Ability to relate well to students, develop rapport, trust and work within a shared decision-making model with the students.
Valid US or Canadian Driver’s License.
Master's in College Student Personnel or Higher Education.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
