Graduate Teaching Fellowship Practice Facilitator
JOB TITLE: Graduate Teaching Fellowship Practice Facilitator
REPORTS TO: Manager of the Graduate Teaching Fellowship
The Graduate Teaching Fellowship Practice Facilitator works with the Manager of the Graduate Teaching Fellowship and Relay Graduate School of Education faculty members to help provide real-time feedback and coaching to first-year residents of the GTF program during their weekly Deliberate Practice sessions.
This role pays $40/hour and will require facilitators to be present on Friday mornings from 7:45 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Facilitators do not need to work every Friday and will have the option to choose their Fridays, but all facilitators must work a minimum of eight Fridays. Facilitators will also need to attend a 90-minute training prior to their first Deliberate Practice. All Deliberate Practice sessions are held at 6700 Bellaire Blvd. Houston, TX 77074.
This position furthers the mission of KIPP Houston because it enables KIPP GTF residents to develop their instructional skills by consistently receiving accurate, high-leverage feedback from qualified practitioners. As a result, GTF residents will be more likely to progress on pace through the Relay Gradual On-ramp curriculum to successfully transition to lead teaching roles in their second year.
Working with the Manager of GTF and Relay faculty, the facilitator will:
Participate as a coach during Relay’s weekly Deliberate Practice sessions
  • Own a small group of first year residents to monitor and coach during deliberate practice protocols.
  • Ensure residents stay on task and execute practice protocols with fidelity.
  • Observe residents and provide targeted, prioritized feedback during protocols.
  • Model appropriate instructional skills to residents as needed.
  • Identify and share trends with Manager of GTF and Relay faculty.
  • Build relationships with residents and reinforce positive culture of learning and collaboration.

Support execution of Relay training
  • Actively monitor and flag any resident questions and/or concerns.
  • Assist Relay faculty members and/or Manager of GTF in making copies, gathering resources, and distributing materials to residents, as needed.
  • Perform general support tasks, as needed.
Education and Knowledge:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with  coaching teachers
  • Proven success working in an instructional coaching capacity (ie. GTF Resident Advisor, Assistant Principal, Dean of Instruction, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency using computers, printers, copy machines, and fax machines
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of KIPP Houston
