Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist

Work Schedule:8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday
Location of position: Uptown/Downtown Divisions, Logistics Service

Position Description Title/PD#: Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist,PD 16300-0

  • Oversees, guides, manages and integrates supply chain operations across the organization.

  • Plans and coordinates fiscal, acquisition, clinical and administrative operations.
  • Establishes, monitors and manages the performance and measurement of logistics functions for all aspects of the supply chain.
  • Conducts logistics audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews.
  • Manages all activities involved in the supply chain management to include sourcing, procurement and logistics management activities.
  • Responsible for linking major business functions and processes within the organization into a cohesive and high performing business model.
  • Forecast planning and budget execution for supplies, subsistence durable medical equipment, medical gases, expendable/non-expendable and capital equipment, inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation and distribution.
  • Leads and/or participates in regular meetings, ensuring logistics needs and requirements are being met.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Specialized ExperienceApplicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-13) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:Serving as a senior supply chain management leader/supervisor, responsible for ensuring the logistical requirements of an organization are met; planning/coordinating and evaluating various operations to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of a logistics program. Areas of knowledge and skill should include acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations; experience with budget formulation and forecasting of expenditures. At this level, candidates should possess experience in overseeing and managing a large group with a variety of occupations and subordinate supervisors. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-14 level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is primarily sedentary; however, the position is required to participate on environment of care rounds, Internal and External Qualify Reviews, and external auditor site visits. These reviews include a review of work areas including warehouse, supply areas that require personal protective equipment such as operating room and lab, and equipment disposition areas that involve removal of hazardous waste. This may require long periods of standing, walking, and/or maneuvering around moving or otherwise hazardous equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and cart washers.work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. May require occasional travel.

Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements For a GS-14 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13 level. level.

Probationary Period for First-Time Managers and Supervisors in the Competitive Service: A one-year probationary period is required of all newly appointed supervisors in accordance with Section 3321 of Title 5 USC, as amended. Failure to meet written performance requirements will necessitate removal from this position to a position of no lower grade and pay than that held prior to entry except for those individuals who change to lower grade to accept the position.

New appointees will be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.
