Foundations of Biology Lecturer Position|
The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a
full-time Lecturer position on an 8- or 12-month basis with an anticipated start date of 27 August 2018. This position is outside of the tenure stream and subject to annual review.
Applicants must have a PhD in biology. The position entails teaching the introductory
Foundations of Biology course, as well as upper division courses such as Genetics, Ecology,
Biochemistry, or Communicating in the Biological Sciences, depending on expertise. An evening section might be included once a year.
Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates should submit (a) a letter of
application, (b) a CV, (c) a teaching portfolio (teaching statement, teaching materials, teaching
evaluations), (d) a summary of other relevant experience, if applicable, (e) a brief description of
how your teaching or service demonstrates a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and (f) at
least three letters of reference. Applications will be reviewed starting 8 January 2018; review
will continue until the position is filled. For each reference, you will have the opportunity to
input a personal email address or an email address generated through Interfolio’s Online
Application Delivery. In both cases, an email notification will be sent to the designated address
with instructions about uploading the letters to our system. The appointment requires
administrative and budgetary approval.
