Job Description
Physician (Monroe CBOC)

The incumbent will serve as a Staff Physician at the Monroe Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) under the Assistant Chief, Primary Care Service.

Physician duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

. Performs and records history and physical examinations and records data from patient visit.

. Evaluates, consults, develops diagnosis, and manages the primary care patients assigned.

. Enters progress notes in computerized medical record and completes workload documentation in a timely manner.

. Provides medical care encompassing acute and chronic medical conditions.

. Order diagnostic tests, medications, laboratory tests as medically relevant for each patient.

. Provides timely follow-up on results, including completion of view alerts. Determines medical assessment and develop treatment plans according to accepted protocols.

. Prescribes medication according to approved formulary, and in accordance with Federal and State Law.

. Works closely with interdisciplinary Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) in managing patient care.

Work Schedule: Generally,Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Basic Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen of the United States (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph3g.)
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
  • Physical requirements outlined below.

Preferred: Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Primary Care

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Requirements:?,Placement in this position is subject to meeting the physical requirements of this position. Pre-placement medical examination is required. See VA Directive and Handbook 5019. Walking (up to 8 hours); Standing (up to 8 hours); Repeated bending (up to 3 hours). Heavy lifting (45 lbs and over); Heavy carrying (45 lbs and over): Straight pulling and pushing; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
