Job Description
Porgram Support Assistant (OA)

  • Program Support Assistant (OA) consolidates and analyzes all productivity data and reviews the same to determine if data is valid.
  • Program Support Assistant (OA) complies and prepares recurring and special clinical productivity reports from information received from Vet Centers, and provides RMO officials with statistical data on numbers of new veterans seen, demographics, visits, services provided and follow-up.
  • Program Support Assistant (OA) organizes and maintains flexible, yet effective, administrative workloads and schedules.
  • Program Support Assistant (OA) provides administrative assistance to the Team Leader of a Vet center, Readjustment Counseling Service, independently creates letters, reports, memorandums, reference slips and other communications from handwritten, or rough draft material.
  • Program Support Assistant (OA) is responsible for supporting the oversight and administration of Acquisition and material Management Activities and interfaces with VA Support Facilities to assure the timely application of initiatives in the area.
  • Program Support Assistant (OA) provides oversight and administration of personnel to include the preparation of personnel actions, positions descriptions, performance standards/appraisals, awards and other personnel actions as directed by the Team Leader tracking the flow of these actions and follows up on specific matters.
  • To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement

    Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS-5 grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

    Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.

    In addition to meeting time in grade and specialized experience requirements, you must certify that you are able to type at least 40 words per minute.

    Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary requiring walking, standing, bending, carrying light items such as papers, books, etc. There are no special physical demands required for performance of the work.

    Influenza Prevention Program Statement: Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a condition of employment and a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). HCP are individuals who, during the influenza season, work in VHA locations where patients receive care or who come into contact with VA patients as part of their duties. VHA locations include, but are not limited to, VA hospitals and associated clinics, community living centers (CLCs), community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), domiciliary units, Vet centers and VA-leased facilities. HCP include all VA licensed and unlicensed, clinical and administrative, paid and unpaid, full- and part-time employees, intermittent employees, fee basis employees, VA contractors, students, researchers, volunteers, and trainees who work at these facilities.
