Overview

Cures Start Here. At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, home to three Nobel laureates, interdisciplinary teams of world-renowned scientists seek new and innovative ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases. Fred Hutch’s pioneering work in bone marrow transplantation led to the development of immunotherapy, which harnesses the power of the immune system to treat cancer. An independent, nonprofit research institute based in Seattle, Fred Hutch houses the nation’s first and largest cancer prevention research program, as well as the clinical coordinating center of the Women’s Health Initiative and the international headquarters of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. Careers Start Here.

Responsibilities

The Saha Laboratory is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows interested in using basic and translational research approaches to explore pathogenic mechanisms and novel targeted therapies in cholangiocarcinoma, a lethal malignancy of the liver bile ducts. Fellows will learn to generate and exploit a series of fundamental cancer model systems including genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs), patient-derived xenografts and novel human cancer cell lines with the ultimate goal of translating their findings into novel clinical trials for cholangiocarcinoma patients.

Scientific methodologies and areas of focus include, but are not limited to, animal models and murine genetics, immunology, molecular biology, cell biology and metabolism, proteomics, biochemistry, pharmacology, genomics and computational biology.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have recently obtained a PhD and/or MD, or be nearing completion of their graduate studies, with a demonstrated track record of productive research.  Applicants with specific expertise in mouse models, liver development, immunology or computational biology are highly encouraged to apply. Proficiency in written and verbal English is required. Fellowship opportunities are available through several philanthropic and government organizations; and recruits who join the lab will be supported in their applications.

Please apply by submitting a CV, a brief description of past research experiences and future goals (not more than 1-2 pages) and contact information for three references.
