Teacher Aide- Head Start/Early Head Start, Open Recruitment (CP-5783)|
The Teacher Aide plays an important part in the team of educators at our SIUE Head Start/Early Head Start program located in our East St. Louis Center. Responsibilities of the Teacher Aide include assisting with preparation of developmentally appropriate lesson plans (including instruction during family style dining), helping implement the adopted curriculum, assist with managing classroom behavior, and helping with individualized child instruction. He or she will assist in conducting screenings and assessments, maintaining records, and scheduling and completing home visits/parent teacher conferences. Individuals in this position are responsible for obtaining and managing child outcome data. The Head Start/Early Head Start Teacher Aide may be assigned additional duties in support of the department’s mission and goals.
With a focus on empowering people and strengthening communities, the SIUE East St. Louis Center is dedicated to improving the lives of families and individuals—from pre-school through adult—in the Metro East region. The SIUE Head Start/Early Head Start program serves more than 1,700 families and youth from birth to age five (including children with special needs) in St. Clair County. The program includes 14 early childhood centers, seven managed directly and seven collaborations. Services include a rigorous school readiness program, educational programs for family members, and health and dental screenings. Qualifications & Requirements
Must have associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
Experience with infants/toddlers in a group care setting.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills.
Ability to work as a team member and work effectively with all levels of staff, parents and center volunteers.
