The School of Engineering at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is in search for an experienced Lab Manager. The SIUE School of Engineering offers one of the most comprehensive engineering programs in the region with nine undergraduate degrees, five master's degrees and a cooperative doctoral program. Students learn from highly qualified faculty in the classroom and laboratory, as well as through undergraduate research projects and student chapters that participate in collegiate competitions.
The Instructor-Lab Manager is responsible for the management and operation of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering laboratories. This position is also expected to teach sections of laboratory or other courses as assigned, along with teaching the use of the equipment and software in the labs. Other duties include: 1) to give safety training to students and faculty on the use of various equipment and maintain a clean and safe working environment, 2) to support the laboratory courses by ensuring that the equipment and software are well maintained, 3) to assist and supervise students in the fabrication of parts and devices for their senior-design projects, 4) to obtain quotes to purchase equipment for the Department, 5) to keep the laboratory computers and equipment updated, 6) to organize and keep track of all equipment and tools of the Department.
Terms of Appointment
Full-time, non-tenure track, twelve-month, beginning July 2017.

Qualifications & Requirements
The candidate should have a Master's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
In addition to teaching lab courses, the candidate is expected to have the following knowledge and skills to perform the required tasks:
1- Experience and knowledge in computer-aided manufacturing, CNC, and PLC programming; familiarity with
rapid prototyping and 3D printing.
2- Experience in conventional and CNC machining, grinding, milling, and welding, preferably with certified
3- Extensive background in mechanical or industrial engineering to purchase the right equipment or to repair
4- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
