First All-Black All-Female Crew on Commercial Jet Flights (9778 hits)
Atlantic Southeast Airlines flights 5202 (Atlanta to Nashville) and 5106 (Nashville to Atlanta) became the first commercial jet revenue flights to be operated by an all-female all-African-American crew, on February 12. Captain Rachelle Jones and First Officer Stephanie Brown Grant piloted the Canadair Regional Jet CRJ-700 with Flight Attendants Robin Rogers and Diana Galloway taking care of the passengers on both flights. Captain Jones completed her upgrade training during April 2008 and became the first African-American female captain at Atlantic Southeast. Atlantic Southeast Airlines, part of the Delta Connection, is owned by SkyWest, Inc.

I am so happy to see African-American female on airlines, my granddaughter wants to be in this field of work, it's so inspiring to my granddaughter. Doris from: East St. Louis, Ill. where they say nothing good comes out of this all black community. But the story that I have read me and my grand-daughter feel better about her career, and that she can acheive any thing she wants to be. Thanks for what you ladies have done, it has really helped my grand-daughter get a better idea, of what it takes to have this career.

To Guest Visitor,
I believe that the airline uses a computer program to schedule its employees and that they are not selected by a human. These four women most likely just happened to be scheduled for these two flights. I don't think this history-making event was set up or contrived.

I love it, whether you're exploring your neighborhood or the far reaches of the globe keep on going ladies. You know traveling is more than getting from Point A to Point B. It's having the ability to chose the best route see they found it.
